St. Francois Society
Pound and stray rescue for the forgotten in rural Missouri
|
Melvin was a sweet 15 month old basset hound whom we
rescued from a local pound. His previous owner's had gotten a new puppy
and
discarded Melvin like a used tissue.
As you can see in the
pictures, Melvin had a defect in his left front
leg. Without surgery, he would have faced extreme pain
as the bone grew.
Melvin got the surgery because we found him a wonderful new home and a
veterinary clinic willing to preform the surgery
at a reduced rate.
At the St. Francois society, we face medical problems like Melvin's all
the time. A dachshund with a shattered femur, a corgi mix with heart
worm and mange. Our income from adoptions and normal donations barely
covers our normal expenses of caring for our animals and getting them
basic veterinary care (spay/neuter, routine vaccinations, flea and
tick). Animals in need of special treatment put us deeply in debt.
You can help the rescued animals with special needs by donating to Melvin's
Fund. Your donation will be specifically used to care
for animals with serious medical problems, who need more than just
routine care.
